Twingo Fuel Level Sensor Fault

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Astra! Yes, the fuel gauge does fluctuate quite a bit, even when the fuel level should be relatively stable. I haven't yet had the chance to thoroughly inspect the wiring and connectors, but that's on my list. Where exactly did you find the sensor in your Opel? Was it easily accessible, or did you need to remove the fuel tank?

On the Astra, the sensor was integrated with the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Accessing it required dropping the fuel tank, which wasn't a straightforward task. Given the erratic fuel gauge behavior and the stored error code, it strongly suggests the sensor is failing. While checking the wiring is a good idea, I'd advise against attempting a fuel tank removal yourself unless you're experienced. I ended up taking mine to a workshop.

Following your advice, I took the Twingo to a local mechanic. They confirmed the fuel level sensor was indeed faulty and replaced it for 52€. The check engine light is now off, and the engine idles smoothly. The fuel gauge is also behaving normally. Thank you again for your help!

I had a similar problem with my Opel Astra. The symptoms sound familiar. In my case, the fuel gauge was all over the place, and it turned out to be a faulty sensor. Have you checked the wiring and connectors leading to the fuel level sensor? Sometimes, a loose connection or corroded wire can cause these kinds of issues. Also, does the fuel gauge on your dashboard behave erratically?
