Twingo overheating radiator fan issue

My 2011 Renault Twingo diesel is overheating, and the check engine light is on. The radiator fan isn't working. Coolant levels are fine, and there are no leaks. Could it be a sensor or the fan motor? Mileage is 180149 km. Any ideas before I see a mechanic?

I had a similar issue with my Twingo. Engine overheating and the same warning light. It was the speed sensor. When it fails, it can cause the fan not to engage properly. I would suggest checking it.

Thanks! Where is the speed sensor located, and can I check it myself with basic tools, or should I leave it to a professional?

It's probably best to let a workshop take a look. Get the error code read out first. If it says speed sensor like mine did, there you go. I ended up with about 250€ on the bill. Better than cooking your engine.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to a local mechanic, and you were spot on it was indeed the speed sensor causing the radiator fan to malfunction. Replacing it resolved the overheating issue. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
