Uneven idling and jerking when accelerating: Possible problems with the throttle valve in Audi A6 (2004, petrol engine)

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2004 Audi A6, gasoline, with 238762 km mileage. While it is idling, it shakes, the check engine light comes on and it jerks when accelerating. I suspect that it could be the throttle valve. Have any of you ever had similar problems and can share your experience of having it repaired by a mechanic? I've had no luck with mine recently unfortunately. Would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2007 Audi A8. The car was twitching at idle and when accelerating it wasn't exactly smooth either. The first sign was the check engine light coming on, just like yours. In my case it was actually the throttle valve, which had to be cleaned and readjusted. It wasn't an insignificant fault as this affects driveability and fuel consumption. Luckily the guys at the garage were able to fix it quite quickly. Hope this helps you! Good luck!

Hi, it sounds like I might have the same problem as you had with your A8. Do you remember how much the repair cost you at the garage? Did anything else occur afterwards, or did your car continue to run smoothly? Thanks a lot!

Hi, after I went to the mechanic, the fault with the throttle valve was rectified. I must say I was really lucky. The accelerator pedal module or the electronics inside was defective. The repair cost me 265 euros. Since then, the car has been running like a dream again, without any further problems. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Hello, thank you, that sounds very hopeful! I'm glad to hear that your car has been running smoothly since the repair. 265 euros is quite reasonable for such a repair. I will contact my mechanic and ask him to take a closer look at my throttle valve. Thanks again for your helpful information. You have really helped me! See you then!
