Unusual symptoms in a 2008 Toyota LandCruiser: Flashing warning light, central locking problems and starting difficulties

Hey guys, my 2008 Toyota LandCruiser with a gasoline engine and 46842 KM on the clock is causing me a bit of concern. I've noticed a few unusual symptoms recently - my warning light in the speedo is flashing, the central locking is acting up and sometimes the car just won't start. I suspect it might be something to do with the Hall sensor for the ignition key? I've had a bad experience with my garage before and don't want to go back blindly. Have any of you had similar problems and how did the mechanic solve it? Would be super grateful for all your experiences and advice!

Hey buddy, I had the exact problem with my 2007 Toyota Prado last year. Ultimately it was the ECU that was causing all these problems. Same symptoms: Warning light, central locking, sometimes no start. The mechanic found it and replaced the faulty control unit. That was the main reason for the faults. It was a serious matter, but fortunately my car has run smoothly since then. Hope this helps and good luck man!

Hi buddy, thanks for your quick reply! Sounds really stressful, but good to hear that it's been resolved for you. Do you remember how much you had to pay for the repair? Have there been any other problems since then or has your Toyota been running smoothly? Would appreciate some more information. Thanks in advance!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! The repair to the control unit cost me €600 at the time, which wasn't cheap, but the car has been running perfectly ever since. And yes, since the visit to the mechanic, the malfunction of the Hall sensor for the ignition key has also been rectified. No more strange incidents since then, the Toyota is absolutely reliable. So in your case, I would go to a garage and have it checked. Good luck with that!

Hey, thanks for the info! That really sounds like a plan. 600€ is a lot of money, of course, but if it helps, it's money well spent. I'll take your advice and have my car checked at the garage. Hopefully everything will go as smoothly as it did for you. Your experience is really helpful for me. Thanks again, man!
