UrbanCruiser knock sensor issue

Hey, I'm having some issues with my 2013 Toyota UrbanCruiser, gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps popping on, and I've noticed my fuel consumption has gone way up. Plus, the engine's idling all rough, like it's got the hiccups! I suspect it might be the knock sensor. Any thoughts?

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa. Same symptoms – check engine light, poor fuel efficiency, and uneven idling. It turned out to be a faulty connection to the knock sensor. Like a loose wire on a lamp, sometimes the simplest things cause the biggest headaches. Have you checked the cable and plug connection of the sensor?

Interesting! So, it was the knock sensor cable for you, huh? Where exactly should I be looking for this cable? I'm not super mechanically minded, but I can usually follow instructions if they're clear.

Yes, that's right, it was the knock sensor cable. Honestly, I'm not an expert either, and fiddling with engine electrics can be tricky. If you're not confident, it might be best to take it to a workshop. It cost me around 80€ back then to have it sorted, plus the sensor. Although my car was a different make and model, I think it is worth checking out. It might be the same for you.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I took it to the local garage, and you were spot on! Turns out the plug connection on the knock sensor was defective, just like you suggested. They replaced it, and the car's running perfectly now. Total cost was 95€. You saved me a ton of stress!
