Urvan Water Sensor Error
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Nissan Urvan diesel is experiencing a recurring issue where the malfunction indicator lamp illuminates, and an error related to the water sensor is logged, causing the engine to run rough. Diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug connection to the water sensor. The problem was resolved by replacing the corroded connector and the sensor itself, leading to the vehicle running smoothly again.

The error code specifically mentioned the water sensor, however, I appreciate the suggestion to verify the diagnosis. Did you also experience any issues with the sensor's wiring or connections, or was your problem caused by a different component?

Yes, it was the water sensor itself, or rather, the connection. We tried cleaning it, but it didn't help. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They replaced the sensor and fixed a corroded wire. Problem solved. If you have the same error code pointing to it, and the wiring looks suspect, maybe save yourself the hassle and take it to someone.

Thanks for confirming. I checked the wiring myself as you suggested, and you were spot on - corrosion on the plug connector. I booked it in, and they replaced the connector and the sensor itself. Total cost 95€. Runs like a champ again!

I had a similar issue with my Urvan. Check engine light, rough running. Was the error definitely pointing to the water sensor? I spent ages chasing phantom issues before realising the diagnostic tool was misreading the fault code.
