V Klasse Oil Pressure Problem

Whoa, sounds rough. Something similar happened with my V Klasse. The oil pressure light flickered and stayed on, but without the noises. Did you check the oil level after the change Just to be sure you didn't underfill it Also, what oil filter did you use It could be restricting flow, like drinking a milkshake through a coffee stirrer. If the level and filter are okay, it might be the oil pump. Hopefully, it's not the engine bearings, that's a whole different expensive problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. The oil level is perfect. I used a parts dealer's recommended oil filter brand, but now I'm wondering if it's right for my engine. What symptoms did you have before the oil pressure light stayed on

Alright, if the oil level is good and the filter is a decent brand, it's less likely those simple things. Before the light stayed on, it would flicker sometimes, especially after the engine ran a while. It's hard to say without a proper check. To be safe, I'd take it to a workshop to avoid more damage. They can measure the oil pressure and diagnose the cause. It could be a faulty sensor, but I'm not a mechanic.

I took the V Klasse to the workshop, and it was the oil pump failure, as suspected. The repair, including parts and labor, cost me 755€. Luckily, the engine bearings seem undamaged. Thanks again for the help.
