V40 engine stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Volvo V40 was experiencing engine stalling at idle and a check engine light, suspected to be caused by a faulty tank ventilation valve or clogged hoses. A suggestion was made to check the pressure sensor connected to the valve, which was a known issue in similar cases. Ultimately, a workshop visit confirmed a clogged hose, leading to the replacement of the ventilation valve and cleaning of the hoses, resolving the problem.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Good call on the pressure sensor! I'll check it out. Was it just a matter of cleaning it, or did you have to replace the sensor itself?

In my case, cleaning didn't do the trick. I ended up replacing the sensor and the valve itself. It helped for a while, but the problem came back after some time. Eventually had to bring it to a workshop, they told me there was a clogged hose after all. So maybe you should consider visiting one.

Thanks! Appreciate the insight. I went to a workshop, you were right about the clogged hose! They replaced the ventilation valve and cleaned the hoses for 175€. Runs like new now!

Hey! I had a similar issue with my V40, although it wasn't the same year. Check engine light and occasional stalling. Did you check the pressure sensor connected to the valve? That was a culprit for me, throwing off the whole emission system.
