V40 Fuel Flap Issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2017 Volvo V40 gasoline. The fuel flap release isn't working. I get an error stored in the error memory, and I can't lock or unlock the fuel filler flap anymore. Also, some other vehicle functions seem to be unavailable intermittently. My V40 has 248742 km on the clock. Could this be related to a defective linkage, or is it more likely an electrical fault? I have checked the key fob battery, and that appears to be fine. I was quoted 210€ for the repair. Any ideas?

Hello! I had a similar problem with my V40 – though it was a while back, so I can't recall the exact year of manufacture. For me, it turned out to be a faulty lock actuator for the fuel flap. Does your car have a cable release in the glove compartment as a backup? Mine didn't. I hope its a simple fix for you. I am certainly no expert, but your symptoms sound almost identical. Best of luck!

Thanks for the info! That's really helpful. I did wonder about the lock actuator. You mention a cable release in the glove compartment – I'll have a look. Assuming it's not the cable release, did you end up having to replace the entire actuator, and if so, was it a garage job or something you tackled yourself?

Hi again, in response to your question, I am afraid I did not have any luck with a cable release. So yes, I had to go to a workshop, as I didn't have the tools or the know-how to do it myself. And I do not have any electrical testing skills! I would recommend going to a reliable workshop, and they will get you sorted in no time, it is probably best to just get them to do it. Good luck, I hope you get it sorted soon!

Just wanted to share the solution! Following the advice, I took it to a local workshop. Turns out the lock actuator was indeed the culprit! They replaced it, and everything is working perfectly again. Fuel flap opens and closes like new. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
