V40 Headlight Washer Failure

I'm having a weird problem with my 2012 Volvo V40 diesel. The headlight cleaning system seems to have given up, and now the windshield washer isn't working either! I've checked the washer fluid level, and it's fine. Could it be a clogged hose or something? Anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar issue with my V40 a while back! Does the pump sound like it's working when you try to use the windshield washer? If not, it could be the cable connection to the pump or a faulty relay. Worth checking those before you go tearing everything apart.

Thanks for the tip! I can't hear the pump at all when I try to use the washer. Where exactly is the pump located, and is it easy to get to the cable connection?

Yeah, if you can't hear the pump, that's a big clue. Honestly, on mine, getting to the pump was a bit of a pain without lifting the car up. It's near the washer fluid reservoir, but fairly tucked away. Unless you're comfortable poking around under the car, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly and save you some hassle.

Okay, thanks a lot for the advice. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but it sounds like it's best left to the professionals. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. They said the cable connection to the pump was defective. Cost me 165€ to get it sorted. Cheers!
