V40 Radar Sensor Error

I've got a 2013 Volvo V40, diesel engine, with 51769 km. The radar sensor error message keeps popping up in the speedometer, and the error memory's full. This is causing failures of adaptive cruise control and the collision avoidance system. Has anyone experienced this? Is this a common V40 issue? What did it end up costing? Could a dirty sensor really be the culprit?

That sounds familiar. I've got a V40 too, and I had similar issues with the radar sensor. Error messages all over the place, the car throwing a fit about systems not working. Was yours completely disabled, or just intermittent?

Intermittent at first, then totally disabled. Did cleaning the sensor fix it for you, or did you have to replace it? And was it expensive? I'm hoping it's not a full replacement, because I'm not looking forward to getting bent over by Volvo!

I didn't try cleaning it myself. I just took it straight to the workshop. They sorted it out pretty quick. They said it was just a dirty sensor and cost me around 45€ including VAT. I'd suggest getting it checked out, especially if it's completely disabled now.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it! I'll try cleaning the sensor myself first. If that doesn't work, I'll take it to the shop as you suggested. For anyone with a similar problem: the sensor was just dirty! A quick clean and the error is gone. Cost me nothing but a bit of time. Thanks again!
