V50 Anti-Theft Alarm Fault
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a malfunctioning anti-theft alarm in a 2007 Volvo V50. The initial suspicion was that the issue might be related to the alarm system's coding for optical locking. After checking the fuses and considering sensor issues, it was suggested to have the alarm control module checked with Volvo diagnostic tools. The problem was resolved by recoding the alarm system, which restored its functionality.

Thanks for the tip! When you say 'alarm sensors,' do you mean the ones in the doors and hood, or are there other sensors specific to the alarm control module itself? I'm trying to avoid a full immobilizer reset if possible.

Yes, I was referring to the door and hood sensors. However, since you mentioned the optical locking, it might be a coding issue after all. If the sensors are fine, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop with Volvo diagnostic tools to check the alarm control module directly. They can see if the coding is the culprit.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right. The alarm system was indeed coded to activate the optical locking incorrectly. Recoding it cost me 45€, and now everything is working perfectly!

I have a V50 as well, and I had a similar problem. Did you check for any power failures or issues with the alarm sensors? Sometimes a faulty sensor can trigger the alarm or prevent it from functioning correctly.
