V50 check engine light air valve hose

I also own a V50. I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve, part of the secondary air injection system. This system pumps air into the exhaust stream during cold starts to help burn off excess hydrocarbons. When the hose connection fails, it can cause the check engine light to come on and even lead to engine stalling. Does your engine stall at any point?

Okay, no stalling is good. The hose is near the front of the engine, kind of tucked away. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic; it's tricky to diagnose without the right tools and knowledge. If that hose is the problem, the repair including part should cost around 175€.
