V50 Engine Stalling Camshaft Sensor

Yes, I performed a diagnostic scan, and the error codes point towards the camshaft sensor. Do you suspect the sensor itself failed, or might the encoder wheel on the camshaft be the more likely culprit?

Based on my experience, the encoder wheel is likely the source of the problem. While sensor failure is possible, the intermittent stalling, coupled with the check engine light, often indicates an issue with the signal being generated by the encoder. I would recommend a thorough inspection and repair at a qualified workshop.

Based on your recommendation, I had the vehicle assessed at a reputable workshop. They confirmed the encoder wheel as the issue. Repairs, including parts and labor, are estimated at 695€. Your assistance expedited the diagnostic process.

I had similar symptoms with my V50, albeit a later model. Check engine light, car stalling, rough idle... all pointed to a faulty camshaft position sensor. Did you try reading the error codes using an OBD-II scanner? That will confirm the issue.
