V50 Handsfree Microphone Failure

My 2004 Volvo V50 diesel's hands-free microphone isn't working. Telephony is impossible, and the error memory shows a fault. The mechanic suspects a defective infotainment system. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm concerned about wireless connection, voice recognition, volume control, audio input and speech recognition. The mileage is 191569 km. Is there anything I can try before an 815€ repair?

I had a similar problem with my Volvo V50. I couldn't use voice commands or make calls. The radio still worked, but anything involving the microphone was dead. It's annoying when you're used to using those features. Did you check the volume control for the microphone or any mute buttons?

Thanks for the quick reply! I checked the volume and mute settings, but no luck. Were you able to fix the problem? Is there any way to avoid going to the workshop?

I wasn't able to fix it myself. It sounds like the infotainment system. My local shop confirmed it and I had it repaired for a similar price. Save yourself the headache and get it checked professionally before something else stops working.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It seems like I'm heading to the workshop. It's helpful to know what to expect. I appreciate your help!
