V60 Belt Handover Malfunction

I own a 2020 Volvo V60, a hybrid model, with approximately 143787 kilometers on the odometer. I have recently observed that the belt handover function is no longer operational. My initial assessment suggests a possible defect in the belt bringer/handover mechanism itself. Could anyone offer insights or advice on this matter?

I had something similar happen with my V60. Is it making any strange noises, like a belt squeal, especially when the engine is cold? I'd check the tensioner pulley first. It might be worth looking at the timing belt too, just to be sure. How old is your current belt?

Thank you for your response. To clarify, are you suggesting that the tensioner pulley could be the primary cause of the belt handover malfunction? The belt itself appears to be in acceptable condition, but I will certainly examine the pulley more closely. Are there any specific signs I should look for regarding the tensioner pulley's condition?

Yes, that's what I suspect. When mine failed, the belt handover stopped working. I couldn't fix it myself, so I ended up taking it to a workshop. They confirmed it was the tensioner pulley that was defective and replaced it.

I appreciate your assistance and the confirmation of your similar experience. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The final repair cost was 455€, because the defective belt tensioner has been replaced.
