V60 Camshaft Sensor Issue

Hey, my 2018 Volvo V60 diesel is giving me trouble. At 168836 km, it's usually reliable, but lately the engine struggles to start and has less power. The diagnostic system says there's a camshaft sensor error. I checked the cable and plug, but they look fine. Could that sensor be the problem, or am I missing something?

I had similar issues with my 2016 BMW 3 Series. Same symptoms – hard starts and poor engine performance. The diagnostic pointed to the camshaft position sensor. Have you checked the sensor itself for damage or corrosion? That's where I'd start.

Thanks, I checked the sensor and connector, but I don't see any damage or corrosion. Sounds like you had the same problem with your BMW. How did the issue show up on your car, and how did you fix it?

The problem came and went for a couple of weeks. I tried cleaning the contacts, but it only helped for a bit. I ended up taking it to a shop. It's often worth it to get the right diagnostic tools instead of guessing for too long.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop, and it was the camshaft sensor, like we thought. The wiring was okay, but the sensor was bad. It cost 95€ to replace. Runs great now. Thanks again for your help!
