V60 check engine light and exhaust leak

My 2018 Volvo V60, gasoline engine, has been throwing a check engine light lately at 179278 km. Car diagnostics points to NOx storage catalyst aging. Symptoms include the light, stored error codes, and I've noticed what seems like a slight exhaust leak. I suspect a leak in the exhaust system is the culprit, causing incorrect readings. Anyone else experienced similar?

Hey, I have a V60 too, though I'm not sure of the exact year, and I had something similar happen a while back. Check engine light, emissions errors... it was a pain. Any idea where the leak is coming from? Mine turned out to be a cracked flex pipe.

Interesting. I haven't pinpointed the exact location of the leak yet. I'm planning on getting under the car this weekend. Was your issue definitely the flex pipe, or did they check the catalyst itself too? Was it expensive to fix?

For me, it was definitely the flex pipe. The shop did a smoke test and found it pretty quickly. They mentioned the NOx catalyst could eventually go bad, but the leak was throwing everything off. The check engine light never came back after they patched it. I would suggest a visit to the workshop.

Appreciate the insight. Sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. They found a leak in the exhaust system. Replacing a pipe and a gasket, all in 265€. Thanks again for the tip!
