Yeah, it cranks. So, what was the issue with your BMW then? Was it a complicated fix? I'm not really a car guy, just trying to get an idea what I'm facing.

With the BMW, it turned out to be an issue with the key programming – the car wasn't recognizing the key properly. It's possible your Volvo has a similar problem, especially with those symptoms. The error memory likely points to the immobilizer. You'll need to visit a shop for them to check if the key is faulty or needs to be recoded to the car’s system.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was a key programming issue. They recoded the key, and it works perfectly now. Cost me 45€.

Sounds like an immobilizer problem. I had something similar happen with my older BMW 3 series. Same symptoms: engine refusing to start, occasional brief start before cutting out, and an error code stored. Does it crank at all?
