V60 Engine Won't Start

Having a weird issue with my 2021 Volvo V60 hybrid. The engine won't start. Sometimes it starts for a split second and then dies. The car's throwing some kind of error, according to the system. The mileage is at 235434 km. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be something with the anti-theft system?

Sounds like an immobilizer problem. I had something similar happen with my older BMW 3 series. Same symptoms: engine refusing to start, occasional brief start before cutting out, and an error code stored. Does it crank at all?

Yeah, it cranks. So, what was the issue with your BMW then? Was it a complicated fix? I'm not really a car guy, just trying to get an idea what I'm facing.

With the BMW, it turned out to be an issue with the key programming – the car wasn't recognizing the key properly. It's possible your Volvo has a similar problem, especially with those symptoms. The error memory likely points to the immobilizer. You'll need to visit a shop for them to check if the key is faulty or needs to be recoded to the car’s system.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was a key programming issue. They recoded the key, and it works perfectly now. Cost me 45€.
