V60 Power Steering Vibration

Hi, I've got a 2018 Volvo V60 diesel with 178324 km on the clock. Recently, the power steering has gone a bit weird. The steering wheel vibrates, and the handling feels spongy. I've also got an error stored in the memory. Sometimes it feels like the power steering has just given up completely and requires way more effort to steer. Could it be a simple fix, like the hydraulic fluid or wheel alignment?

Hey, those symptoms definitely point to a power steering issue. Have you checked the pressure hose or steering rack for any leaks? Also, it might be worth checking the cable and plug connections to the power steering component itself. A defective connection could cause those problems.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly would I find the cable and plug connections you mentioned? I'm not super familiar with the layout under the hood.

No worries. Honestly, tracing the power steering lines and components can be tricky without a lift and some experience. Given the stored error and your symptoms, it really does sound like a potential electrical fault or a failing component. To be safe, I would recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. They can pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. It was a defective cable/plug connection as you suggested! Got it sorted at the workshop for just 95€. Cheers!
