Interesting! You mean physically check the wires and the plug itself? Was it visibly damaged or corroded when you found it?

I gave them a look-see. I'm not super-technical, but I could see some corrosion on the plug. Ultimately, I decided to get a workshop to handle it. They confirmed it was a defective connection. Probably best to get it checked professionally.

I appreciate the insight. I'll get the connections checked out, but I think a visit to the shop is on the cards. It turns out it was exactly that. Cable to the preheating unit was defective. 95€ later and it's sorted!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old 2014 Opel Astra. Preheating lamp stayed on and engine light popped up. I'm no expert, but did you check the cable or plug connection of the preheating unit? That's where my problem was.
