V60 Rough Idle Camshaft Sensor

Alright Volvo gurus, I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2021 V60 hybrid is throwing a tantrum. 216715 km on the clock. It starts like it's got a mouthful of cotton, stalls at idle sometimes, and the check engine light is practically a disco. I'm leaning towards a camshaft sensor issue, maybe the encoder wheel itself is kaput. Anyone else seen this devilry?

Sounds familiar! I had similar shenanigans with my V60. Engine misfire, rough idling, the whole shebang. Did you check the crankshaft sensor as well? That can mess with the ignition timing and make the engine control unit go bonkers.

Crankshaft sensor, huh? Interesting. I was so focused on the camshaft sensor. Did yours throw any specific codes related to that, or was it more of a general 'engine unhappy' situation? Trying to narrow down if it's the same gremlin.

It was a general 'engine unhappy' vibe, flashing lights, the whole nine yards. Eventually, the shop traced it back to the camshaft sensor. They said the encoder wheel was causing the issues. Honestly, after all the messing around, just take it to a decent workshop, it will save you time.

You nailed it! Bit the bullet and took it in. Camshaft sensor, encoder wheel indeed. 695€ later and she's purring like a kitten again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
