V60 Transmission Fault

My 2020 Volvo V60 diesel (166790 km) occasionally shows an engine warning light with a 'Transmission Fault' message. The error memory says it's the transmission oil pressure sensor. Sometimes the gearbox goes into emergency mode, shifts roughly, and makes grinding noises. Could low gearbox oil cause this?

Wow, that's a lot! I have a V60 too, not sure of the year, but I've had similar experiences. Could it be an oil sensor or something? I'm no expert, but is your car throwing any other codes, or just the oil pressure sensor?

The main error is the transmission oil pressure sensor. Did your V60 show the same oil pressure sensor error before you had transmission issues?

You know what? It did! Now that you mention it, I think it was the same oil pressure sensor fault. I'm just some dude on the internet, but I bet you need to check your oil levels or get that sensor replaced – I'd swing by a workshop if I were you.

I had the vehicle inspected. The gearbox oil was low, causing the sensor fault. A top-up and sensor replacement fixed it, costing 365€.
