V70 Alarm System Malfunction

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2010 Volvo V70, gasoline engine, with 153641 km on the clock. The anti-theft alarm system seems to be malfunctioning. I get an error stored in the error memory, and the alarm system itself is without function. I have checked the fuses, but that did not resolve the issue.

Hey there! I also own a V70, and your problem sounds awfully familiar. Have you had the car coded to activate optical locking, meaning the indicators flash when locking/unlocking? That can sometimes mess with the alarm system. Does it happen randomly or is it constant?

Thank you for your reply. I'm not entirely sure about the optical locking; is there a way to check this, or would it require diagnostic equipment?

Okay, so the optical locking thing... yeah, you'd need a VIDA/DiCE unit to properly check if it's enabled in the car's computer. Honestly, given the symptoms and that you've already checked the fuses, it really does sound like a software glitch related to the alarm settings. I ended up just taking mine to a workshop to get it sorted. They re-flashed the alarm module and it's been fine since. Save yourself the headache and let the pros handle it.

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed that the alarm system was coded to activate optical locking, which was causing the issue. They recoded the system, and it cost me 45€. Thank you again for your help!
