V70 Diesel Hissing Jerking
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Volvo V70 diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, jerking upon acceleration, a hissing sound, and increased fuel consumption. The suspected cause is a fault in the intake manifold flap control. A similar issue was resolved by addressing the intake manifold flap, suggesting a professional diagnosis and repair is advisable.

The hissing is indeed more prominent at lower RPMs. The jerking, however, is rather inconsistent. It appears more frequently under moderate acceleration, particularly when the engine is under load. Could you elaborate on the defect you encountered and the remedy?

Sounds like we had the same problem. If the hissing gets louder with the RPMs, that confirms it. I messed around with it myself for a bit, but eventually took it to a shop. Turns out it WAS the intake manifold flap thingy, just like you suspected. Saved myself a headache in the end. If you've got the hissing and the jerking, best to get it checked!

Given your experiences, I believe a visit to a trusted workshop is warranted. I will proceed with a professional diagnosis and repair, keeping in mind the potential fault in the intake manifold flap control. The repair amounted to 465€.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I drive a V70 as well, and I went through almost the same thing last year. Hissing and jerking like crazy, especially when trying to overtake someone. Is the hissing sound more noticeable at lower RPMs? And how bad is the jerking; is it constant or intermittent?
