V70 Jerking and Stalling

I'm having some trouble with my 2014 Volvo V70 diesel. It's got 166085 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed some jerking when accelerating, and the check engine light is now on. I scanned for codes and there's an error stored. I've also experienced reduced engine power, the engine stalling at idle sometimes, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. Could this be related to the air intake?

Those are definitely concerning symptoms. Has the check engine light just come on recently? Jerking and stalling could point to several things. Has the car had any vacuum leaks previously?

The check engine light came on about a week ago, after the jerking started. No vacuum leaks that I know of, but could a faulty air intake cause all of these problems?

It's possible. Scorching can cause intake manifolds to leak. Given the symptoms and error code, a defective intake manifold is likely. I'd recommend a workshop visit; could cost around 1180€ to fix.

Thanks for the insight. I took it to the shop, and you were right. The intake manifold was leaking due to scorching. Got it replaced. Runs much better now.
