Thank you for your reply. To my knowledge, there are no other electrical anomalies present. Should I go to the workshop to get it checked out, or is it safe to assume it will only get worse?

Given the symptoms and the potential cause, a visit to a qualified workshop would be wise. A faulty alarm system can compromise vehicle security. It is reasonable to assume it would only get worse. A repair will cost around 95€.

I appreciate your professional assessment. The car is now at the workshop; the siren communication fault was indeed caused by a faulty cable. Thank you!

A siren communication fault on a Volvo V70, model year 2003? Yes, it is plausible that a defective cable or plug connection is the cause. Before delving deeper, are there any other electrical issues you've noticed, or is it strictly the alarm system?
