V90 Exhaust Flap Issue

I have a 2019 Volvo V90 with a gasoline engine. I'm having an issue with the exhaust flaps. The car has about 28511 km on it. There's an error stored, the exhaust is louder than usual, and the engine is noisy, especially after a cold start. It seems like a defective exhaust flap. Has anyone else experienced this and have any diagnostic or repair tips? The estimated repair cost is around 190€, and I'm getting a second opinion.

That's a pickle! I have a V90 myself, and I ran into something similar. Louder exhaust, especially on startup. Check your flap actuator, they are notorious for failing! How is your fuel consumption? If your exhaust is blocked, your engine will suffer. Peek at the exhaust system for any blockages!

Regarding the flap actuator, what specific symptoms made you suspect it? Did the error memory show a specific exhaust system error code?

The error memory threw some generic code, but nothing concrete. I noticed it when the car failed its annual check. The car was louder than normal, and the consumption went up slightly. I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. They can look at the exhaust valves, do tests, and tell you what to do. It's probably the flap actuator; they said it's common for it to go bad after a while. Good luck!

Thanks for the corroborating experience and recommendations. I'll consult a trusted workshop for a diagnosis and repair. Your insights expedited the diagnostic process. The actuator flap was faulty and has been replaced at a cost of 190€.
