V90 Fuel Consumption Power Loss

I've got a bit of a headache with my 2017 Volvo V90, gasoline engine. It's got about 53k km on the clock. Lately, I've noticed the fuel consumption is way up, and honestly, it feels like it's lost a good chunk of its power. Sometimes, it even stalls when idling, which is super annoying. Just the other day, accelerating onto the highway, a puff of smoke came out the back! I'm thinking it's an injection issue. Anyone experienced this before? I've checked the obvious stuff, like air filter, but no luck. Could a bad cable or plug connection really cause all this?

Whoa, those symptoms sound rough! Higher fuel consumption, power loss, stalling AND smoke? That's not just a little hiccup. You're right, it does point towards a fueling issue. A defective cable or plug connection at the injector is a definite possibility. Have you scanned it for any error codes? Because without any codes, you're basically chasing shadows. Also, what kind of smoke was it? Black, blue, or white? That can tell us a lot.

Yeah, it's driving me nuts! I haven't scanned it yet, been putting it off. I'll definitely do that first thing tomorrow. As for the smoke, it was black, definitely black. Does that narrow it down? And regarding the cable/plug, is there any way to test that without special equipment? I'm pretty handy, but I don't want to mess anything up worse.

Black smoke usually means too much fuel, not enough air. So yeah, that reinforces the injection suspicion. As for testing the cable/plug, without proper tools (multimeter, etc.) it's tricky and risky. You could visually inspect them for obvious damage, but that’s about it. Honestly, with those symptoms and the black smoke, get it to a shop. At least get a proper diagnostic done. Better safe than sorry and potentially causing more damage. I still think its the cable/plug connection.

Okay, you've convinced me. I'll get it to a workshop. I appreciate the advice! Just got the car back, and you nailed it! Turns out it WAS a defective cable/plug connection to one of the injectors. They charged me 95€ for the fix, which honestly, I'm happy to pay to have it running smoothly again. Thanks again for the help!
