V90 High Fuel Consumption Poor Start

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2023 Volvo V90 hybrid. It's got about 204172 km on it. Recently, I've noticed higher fuel consumption than usual, and the car seems to start poorly. I've checked the air intake and didn't find any obvious obstructions. Could this be related to a defective throttle valve? Any ideas on what to check next? I'm not very experienced, so any help is appreciated.

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Volvo V90 hybrid with high mileage is experiencing increased fuel consumption and poor starting. The initial suspicion was a defective throttle valve, but a suggestion pointed towards the accelerator pedal module as a potential cause. Upon inspection at a workshop, the accelerator pedal module was indeed found to be defective, leading to the throttle valve issue, and its replacement resolved the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar issue with my V90 a while back. Higher fuel consumption and sluggish starts sound familiar. Have you checked the accelerator pedal module? It's a known culprit for throttle-related problems. Might be worth a look before you dive deeper into the engine throttle itself.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the accelerator pedal module yet. Where is that located, and is it something I can easily inspect myself, or is it better left to a professional? Also, is there a way to test it before replacing it?

The accelerator pedal module is usually located near the accelerator pedal. Honestly, without the right diagnostic tools, testing it yourself can be tricky. Given your symptoms, and the fact I had a similar problem, I would advise you to get it checked out at a workshop. My defective accelerator pedal module caused a throttle valve error.

Thanks again for the help! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on - the accelerator pedal module was defective, causing the throttle valve issue. Repair cost me about 205€. Runs like new now!
