V90 Stiff Steering and Vibration

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 2016 Volvo V90 diesel. It has 234775 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed that the steering requires more effort, almost like the power steering is failing intermittently. Also, the steering wheel vibrates sometimes. I think the steering angle sensor might be the culprit, possibly a coding issue. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I had a similar issue with my V90. The symptoms sound very familiar. Did you notice if it was more frequent at certain speeds or during specific maneuvers?

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it seems to be worse when I'm parking or making tight turns at low speed. At higher speeds, it's less noticeable but the vibration is still there sometimes. Was it definitely the steering angle sensor for you?

Yep, that sounds exactly like what I went through. In my case, it was indeed the steering angle sensor. Faulty coding was the diagnosis. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop; they'll be able to confirm it and sort it out. It's not something I'd recommend tackling yourself unless you really know what you're doing.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll book it in for a diagnostic check. Turns out the sensor was defective. After sensor replacement and wheel alignment, the issue is now resolved. The repair cost was 195€. Appreciate the help!
