Vanette Audio System Failure

Sounds grim. Had a similar problem with my old Volvo V70 – radio just died. Fuses were good, power was getting to the unit, but nothing. Any weird crackling sounds coming from the speakers before it went belly-up, or any issues with the dashboard controls beforehand? Maybe volume control acting flaky?

No speaker crackle at all, and the dashboard controls seemed perfectly normal right up until it stopped working. Is there any possibility that the 'display defective' error is misleading, and it might be related to faulty wiring somewhere else in the audio system, rather than the head unit itself?

Could be, I suppose, anything’s possible, but in my Volvo's case it was definitely the head unit itself. The authorized repair shop was able to diagnose that the main board inside of the stereo had failed. Since you are getting an error and power is going to the unit itself, I would recommend seeking assistance from a workshop.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate the insights. I’ve taken the van to a shop, and after some further diagnostic work, they confirmed the display itself was faulty. A replacement unit has been ordered.
