Vauxhall Adam Engine Issues: Throttle Valve Problems?

Thanks for the input! My mileage is at 238071 KM and had my last service about 3 months ago. The issue actually started gradually over the past couple weeks, began with minor stuttering and got worse. No other warning lights besides the check engine light. I was leaning towards the throttle valve, but your mention of the accelerator pedal module is interesting, might be worth checking out. Did you notice any specific symptoms before your module completely failed? And was the repair process straightforward at your specialist?

Hey again! Always happy to help out a fellow Vauxhall owner. Yeah, looking at your mileage and symptoms, it's really ringing bells with what I experienced. With my Corsa, before the accelerator pedal module completely packed in, I noticed pretty much the same gradual progression you're describing. Started with this annoying stuttering, especially when trying to maintain a steady speed. Then it got worse, the car would sometimes hesitate when accelerating, like it couldn't make up its mind whether to go or not. Super frustrating! The repair at my specialist was pretty straightforward, took them about an hour and a half. They actually showed me the old module after they replaced it, and you could see where the sensors had worn out. One thing I'd definitely recommend though, make sure they do a proper diagnostic scan first. While my issue was the pedal module, these symptoms can sometimes be linked to other sensors in the system. I mean, it could still be your throttle valve, but given how similar your symptoms are to what I dealt with, I'd put money on the pedal module. Especially since it's been getting worse gradually, that's exactly how mine played out. Just a heads up, if it is the module, don't wait too long to get it sorted. Mine eventually got to the point where the car would barely move! Not fun when you're trying to get to work in the morning!

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation! You've definitely convinced me to get the accelerator pedal module checked out first. The way you described the progression of symptoms matches my situation perfectly, especially that bit about the car hesitating like it can't decide whether to go or not! That's exactly what I've been dealing with. I'll call my local Vauxhall specialist tomorrow and book it in for a diagnostic scan. Better to get it sorted now before I end up stranded somewhere! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's super helpful when you can hear from someone who's been through the same thing. I'll update the thread once I get it checked out, might help someone else with similar issues down the line. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!

Hey there! I've got some experience with these issues, had something similar with my 2012 Vauxhall Corsa last year. Sounds exactly like what I went through! The symptoms were spot-on with what you're describing. Turned out my accelerator pedal module was shot. Got it fixed at my local Vauxhall specialist, cost me about 205€ for the whole job. Made a huge difference, car runs smooth as butter now. Could be the same issue on your Adam, but hey, would you mind sharing a bit more info? What's your mileage? Any other warning lights? Also, did this start suddenly or was it gradual? Just trying to make sure you're not throwing money at the wrong problem! Let me know and I'll share more details about my experience. Experience level: Some experience (regular DIY maintenance, but leave the complex stuff to pros)
