Vauxhall Adam Throttle Position Sensor Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2013 Vauxhall Adam, gasoline engine, with 179933 km. I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power, and the check engine light is on, more so after longer drives. I suspect a defective throttle valve, possibly a faulty accelerator pedal module or internal electronics. Anyone else experienced something similar? Could this be limp mode, rough idling, or throttle response delay? Is there a way to test this? Fuel efficiency is down too, I think.

Your symptoms sound familiar. I also own an Adam and encountered a similar situation a while back. Check engine light, loss of power... the whole shebang. Do you notice any difference in how the car behaves when it's cold versus after it warms up? Did you retrieve any error codes?

Yes, it might improve somewhat on a cold start, but the problem returns after driving for about 10-15 minutes. I forgot to mention I checked the error codes and it indicates a throttle position sensor malfunction. Did you also have the same error codes?

Ah, throttle position sensor! Bingo! That was exactly what happened to mine. There's not much you can do yourself, sadly. I tried cleaning the throttle body, but it didn't really make a difference. It sounds like the electronics in the module are bust. I would recommend taking it to a workshop and getting it checked out properly. Best to avoid more damage.

Thanks a lot for the confirmation! This is really helpful. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but I guess it's off to the mechanic then. I will let you know how it goes! By the way the repair was 265€. Hopefully it will fix it for the long term!
