Thanks for the quick response. Can you elaborate on the warning lights you mentioned? Are you referring to the ABS indicator, or a separate warning specifically for brake fluid level? When you say your 'pedal felt off', could you clarify what you mean?

Yeah, I meant the ABS light could come on, or the general brake warning light. If either of those are lit, it's a sure sign something's not right. As for the pedal, it felt kinda spongy and didn't have the usual bite. Like I had to push it further down to get the same braking power. Honestly, after checking the lines and topping up the fluid which only helped temporarily, I took mine to a workshop. Best bet.

I appreciate you confirming the warning lights issue. Given your experience and the potential complexities, I have chosen to seek professional assistance from a qualified mechanic. It turns out that the worn brakes were indeed the cause, with associated fluid loss. The total repair cost was 480€.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar thing with my Vectra a while back. Low brake fluid and the pedal felt...off. First, check your brake lines for any leaks even tiny ones can cause the fluid to drop. When was the last time you had your brake fluid replaced? Old fluid can cause issues too. Also, any warning lights on the dash?
