Vauxhall Vectra Bypass Valve Overheating

I've got a 2008 Vauxhall Vectra with a gasoline engine and I'm pulling my hair out. It's showing a bypass valve malfunction, and the engine is overheating. I suspect it's a consequential error from something else, but where do I even start? The car has 193635 km on the clock. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue on my Vectra. Does it feel like the engine is losing power, or maybe even stalling at times? Check the exhaust system and air intake for any obvious leaks or blockages. A faulty sensor could also be the culprit. When the engine overheats, the bypass valve error might pop up as a result.

Thanks! Power loss and stalling haven't really been an issue, but I'll definitely check the exhaust and air intake. Is there a specific sensor I should be looking at? I don't want to start replacing parts willy-nilly.

While there's no single sensor to point to immediately, the mass airflow sensor or oxygen sensors are often linked to these symptoms. However, given the overheating, it's best to get it checked professionally. A diagnostic tool can pinpoint the root cause much faster. Continuing to drive it might cause additional damage.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to the workshop as suggested. Turns out, it was a consequential error. Coolant leak caused the overheating, which threw the bypass valve code. Leak fixed, system reset, and the bypass valve error is gone! Repair cost: 0€ Thank you!
