Vauxhall Vectra Intake Leak

My 2008 Vauxhall Vectra, gasoline engine, has high fuel consumption and the check engine light is on. There's a loud hissing from the engine bay when I accelerate. I think it's an air intake leak; I see a crack in one of the hoses. Could that be it, or should I check the throttle body or turbocharger vacuum hoses?

I had similar issues with my old Renault. Hissing and the check engine light are dead giveaways. Mine was a split in the intake hose, like you describe. Is the hose you found after the air filter and before the throttle body? If so, that's almost certainly your problem. Is the hissing constant, or does it change with engine RPM?

The hose I suspect is after the air filter and before the throttle body. The hissing definitely gets louder as the engine RPM increases. Does that mean it's a split intake hose?

Absolutely! Since the hissing grows with RPM and the hose is in the right spot, I'm 99% sure that's your issue. Take it to a trusted mechanic to get it properly diagnosed and repaired. Patching it might only be temporary. A bad leak can affect other parts of your engine. A complete hose replacement fixed everything for me.
