No crackling before it went, just silence. The dashboard controls look like they're working, yeah. The volume display changes, but still no sound.

Thank you for the clarification. Given the absence of prior speaker distortion and the apparent functionality of the dashboard controls, it reinforces the suspicion of an internal head unit fault. The error memory corroborates this further. While diagnostics can be performed, the symptoms suggest the display is probably defective. I recommend consulting a qualified workshop for formal assessment and component-level diagnosis. In my case the repair cost was 725€.

Thanks for the insight! I'll take it to a workshop and see what they say. Sounds like it's probably the display. Thanks again!

Greetings. I had a similar issue with a 2012 Volvo V60. While not identical, the symptoms mirror yours. The lack of audio output coupled with a stored error code suggests a potential failure within the head unit itself. Have you noticed any distortion or crackling from the speakers prior to the complete failure? Are the dashboard controls responsive; specifically, does the volume control appear to function, even without producing sound?
