Vectra steering problem

My 2006 Vauxhall Vectra with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. It's got 247674 km on the clock. The steering has gone all weird! It feels like the power steering is cutting out sometimes, making it super hard to turn, and the steering wheel is vibrating like crazy. I'm thinking it's the steering angle sensor. Anyone had this happen before? I suspect a faulty coding of the sensor.

Woah, that sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my Vectra. Steering getting heavy and a wobble? Definitely rings a bell. Did it happen suddenly, or did it build up over time?

Good to know I'm not alone! Yeah, it was pretty sudden, honestly. One day everything was fine, the next I felt like I was wrestling a bear every time I turned the wheel. Any idea what fixed it for you? Was it definitely the steering angle sensor?

Yup, sounds exactly like what I went through. It's almost certainly the steering angle sensor. I messed around with it for ages, checking wheel alignment and everything, but in the end, I had to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly and recalibrated the sensor. Cost me about 195€ all in. Honestly, it's probably worth getting it checked professionally, as electronic stability is essential.

Okay, that's super helpful! Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. Sounds like a trip to the mechanic is in order. Will get the steering angle sensor checked out. Hopefully, a recalibration will do the trick and I will be back on the road in no time. Appreciate the advice!
