Vectra water sensor issue

I'm facing a perplexing issue with my 2000 Vauxhall Vectra, diesel engine. At 177299 km, the check engine light illuminates intermittently, accompanied by a stored error code and rough engine running. Initial diagnostics point towards a water sensor malfunction, potentially a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone encountered similar symptoms?

Hey there! I had something similar happen on my Vectra (no idea what year mine is, lol). Check engine light, weird running...turned out to be a dodgy connection on a sensor alright. Is it throwing any specific codes? That could narrow it down.

Appreciate the swift response! The error code implicates the water sensor specifically. Did your Vectra exhibit similar error codes, and was the sensor connection visibly corroded or damaged?

Right you are! It was the water sensor indeed. I didn't get my hands dirty myself though, took it straight to the workshop. They sorted it out quickly. Best bet is probably a garage visit!

Understood, I appreciate the confirmation and advice. I've heeded your suggestion and consulted a workshop; the defective connection was indeed the culprit. Repair cost amounted to 95€ Thank you for your assistance!
