Vel Satis ABS Speed Signal Fault

I'm having a speed signal fault on my 2004 Renault Vel Satis diesel. ABS lamp is on, traction control is malfunctioning, and ABS is failing. Diagnostics point to a defective control unit. Mileage is 141830 km. Anyone seen this before, and what did you do?
