Thanks! I'll check around for leaks. Where exactly should I be looking for a defective plug connection or cable? I'm not sure where to start. Is there a common place for coolant leaks in these cars?

Honestly, it's tough to pinpoint without a proper inspection. Given the check engine light and low coolant, and since I am not a mechanic, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. It might be a small issue or something more serious, better safe than sorry. In my case there were micro-cracks in a hose.

Thanks! I appreciate the advice. I did take it to the shop and they found the defective cable/plug you suspected. Cost me 95€ to fix. All good now!

Hi! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Insignia, although that was a diesel. Check for any signs of a coolant leak around the engine, radiator, and hoses. Also, make sure the radiator cap is sealing properly. Could also be air pockets, although that's less likely. Is the cooling fan kicking in as it should?
