Veloster Tailgate Hall Sensor Fault

I'm having issues with my 2011 Hyundai Veloster (gasoline engine). The mileage is currently at 162640 km. The tailgate refuses to open completely, and after scanning for errors, I'm getting a fault related to the tailgate hall sensor. My research suggests that the most probable cause is a defective cable or plug connection to the sensor. It's as if the car thinks the tailgate is obstructed or something. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any advice would be appreciated before I start tearing things apart!

Summary of the thread

I had a similar problem with my Veloster some time ago. Automatic tailgate acting up, right? Check the sensor wiring first. Could be a loose connection. It's like a dodgy light switch – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'sensor wiring,' are you referring to the wiring inside the tailgate itself, or somewhere else in the car's electrical system? Was the error stored in the error memory too? I want to make sure I'm looking in the right place before I start poking around.

Yep, error was stored in error memory. In my case, it was easier to just go to the workshop. They sorted it out quickly. Don't waste time trying to fix it yourself. It's like trying to defuse a bomb if you don't know what you're doing.

Okay, thanks for the heads-up! I appreciate the advice. I'll take it to the shop. It turns out, the issue was indeed a defective connection, as suggested, and the repair cost me 95€. Thanks again!
