Veloster transmission issues
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Hyundai Veloster exhibited unusual transmission behavior, including implausible shifting, a transmission warning light, and emergency mode activation. The suspected cause was undervoltage. The issue was resolved by changing the transmission oil and cleaning electrical connections, which improved performance and eliminated the symptoms.

Slipping a bit, yeah. I haven't checked the fluid recently, figured it was a sealed unit. Codes? Good point. I will need to check that. So, could old fluid really cause all these symptoms?

Sealed, huh? Supposedly, but old fluid definitely messes with transmission performance. Could be the culprit with those symptoms, absolutely! But with the light and emergency mode, could be electrical, as you suspected. Best get it properly diagnosed at a workshop, I reckon, before you make it worse.

Thanks. I checked the codes, and you are right, the codes point to low voltage and communication errors. Changed the transmission oil and cleaned some connections, and now it runs like new! Cost me 240€, so not too bad. I appreciate the advice.

Whoa, emergency mode sounds rough! Is it slipping at all between gears? When was the last time you had the transmission fluid checked or changed? Could be something simple... or not. Is it throwing any specific codes, by the way? Might help narrow it down.
