VelSatis Defrost Flap Fault

I'm having trouble with my 2006 Renault VelSatis (gasoline engine). The diagnostic system says there's a fault with the defrost air distribution flap, and the heating isn't working well. I've looked at the wiring and think there might be a problem with the cable or plug connection. Has anyone else had HVAC problems like this?

I've seen similar things in Vel Satis models of that age. Before you start checking the wiring, have you checked the heater core? If it's partially blocked, it could cause similar heating problems and hide the flap motor issue.

That's a good point. The core seems okay, but could a small blockage still affect airflow? How would you check the core properly before I take apart the dashboard to get to the flap motor?

Since the error code points to the flap, and you suspect wiring issues, I'd guess the core is fine. You could backflush it to be sure, but honestly, save yourself the trouble. Take it to a shop to avoid causing more damage.

I took your advice and brought it to a service center. They confirmed the problem was a defective plug connection in the defrost air distribution flap circuit. The repair cost 95€, and the ventilation system is now working normally. Thanks for the help.
