VelSatis fault memory lock active
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault VelSatis is experiencing a persistent "fault memory lock active" error, indicating an issue with the car's computer storing an error that can't be cleared. A possible cause is low voltage affecting the ECU, potentially due to a sluggish battery or poor grounding. The suggested solution is to check the battery and earth points, and if necessary, have the vehicle inspected by a professional. The issue was resolved by addressing the undervoltage problem, costing 240€.

Interesting... undervoltage, huh? I hadn't considered that specifically, but you're right, the battery has been a bit sluggish lately. What exactly did you experience, and did the earth points show corrosion?

Yeah, pretty much the same error message and the car acting a bit weird. I didn't check the earth points myself to be honest. Eventually, I had to bite the bullet and took it to a workshop. It turned out to be exactly what the diagnostic said: low voltage messing with the ECU's brain. Best get it checked properly!

Thanks a bunch for the insight! Seems like I'm heading down the workshop route, too. Turns out it was the undervoltage issue, as you guessed. Cost me 240€ to get sorted, but at least the "fault memory lock" message is gone!

I think I remember something similar on mine (also a VelSatis). Does it seem to happen more when the battery's been a bit low, or after a lot of stop-start driving? It could be under voltage causing the ECU to get confused. You might also want to check your earth points. I've had strange things happen due to bad grounding. Just a thought!
