Venue Manifold Pressure Issue

My 2020 Hyundai Venue diesel is having some issues at 173897 km. It started with slight jerking during acceleration, now the check engine light is on. An OBD scanner shows a manifold pressure error. The engine idles roughly, occasionally stalls, and performance is reduced with a strong exhaust smell. It's jerking when accelerating, and the engine is running very rough. I suspect a defective intake manifold, potentially leaking. Has anyone experienced similar symptoms or have any advice? Could it be a faulty manifold sensor?

I also drive a Hyundai Venue. Your description sounds familiar to an issue I encountered. The jerking, manifold pressure error codes, and reduced engine power are red flags. Did you check the manifold pressure sensor readings with your OBD scanner? It might give you more certainty before looking for scorching.

I did check the manifold pressure sensor readings, and they seemed erratic, but I wasn't sure if that was a symptom or a cause. Could you elaborate on your experience? Was it indeed the intake manifold in your case, and if so, what was the extent of the damage and the subsequent repair process?

In my case, it was indeed the intake manifold. The scorching was evident upon inspection. Given the symptoms you've described, and the error codes you're seeing, I strongly suggest you take it to a reputable workshop for a thorough diagnosis to prevent further engine damage. It might be worth checking the intake manifold gaskets as well.

I took the Venue to a trusted mechanic, and it was indeed a defective intake manifold, leaking due to scorching, as suspected. The total repair cost came to 1180€, including parts and labor. I appreciate your help in pointing me in the right direction. I hope this thread will help other Hyundai Venue owners facing similar issues.
