Venza cruise control malfunction

Cruise control stopped working on my 2017 Toyota Venza with a gasoline engine and only 27527 km. The system won't engage, and there's an error code. I checked the brake light switch and throttle position sensor connections, but didn't see anything obvious. Anyone else have this issue?

I had something similar happen with my old Saab 9-3. The cruise control just quit. Check the clock spring and the speed sensor connections. A faulty connection there could cause the cruise to disengage or not engage at all. Do your brake lights work?

Thanks, the brake lights are working normally. Could you tell me more about your experience with the Saab 9-3? Was the error intermittent, and did you notice any other symptoms besides the cruise control?

Yeah, on the Saab, the brake lights were fine too. The cruise control would just randomly cut out. Sometimes it would work for a bit, then stop. It ended up being a dodgy connection. I’d still suggest going to a workshop and let them check the cable and plug connections.

I appreciate the advice to investigate the cable and plug connections. I took the Venza to a workshop, and they found and repaired a defective connection. Total cost was 95€. Thanks again for your help.
