Thanks for the tip. I hadn't considered the crankshaft sensor. Did the check engine light specifically point to the camshaft sensor in your case?

Yeah, the code reader showed a camshaft position sensor error. Turned out the encoder wheel on the camshaft itself was slightly defective. Caused intermittent readings. If it's that, you’re probably looking at needing to take it in. Sensor testing might narrow it down, but mine needed replacement. Cost me around 700€ all in.

Dude, that sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Venza a while back. Have you checked the crankshaft sensor too? Could be related to ignition timing if the camshaft position isn't being read correctly.
