Veracruz AC Undervoltage

Hey, my 2008 Hyundai Veracruz with a gasoline engine is giving me A/C troubles. The air conditioning just stopped switching on, and now it doesn't cool at all. Hooked it up to a scanner and it's throwing an error code. From what I've read, it seems like it might be an undervoltage issue somewhere. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Hyundai Veracruz experienced air conditioning issues, with the system failing to switch on and cool. The problem was suspected to be related to an undervoltage issue, potentially indicated by an error code. Initial suggestions included checking the AC relay, which is a common failure point, and testing it by swapping with another relay or using a multimeter. Ultimately, the issue was traced to corroded wiring causing undervoltage and relay damage, which was resolved at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. I have a Veracruz too, and had similar symptoms last summer. Before diving into undervoltage, did you check the AC relay? That's often the first thing to fail. Also, what exactly was the error code?

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't specifically checked the AC relay yet, no. Where is that located, and is there an easy way to test it? As for the code, I'd have to look it up again; don't remember it offhand.

The relay is usually in the main fuse box under the hood, should be a diagram on the cover. You can swap it with another relay of the same type to test, or use a multimeter. If that doesn't fix it, and given the error code, you might need to take it to a shop. Could be a more complicated electrical problem.

Appreciate the advice. Ended up taking it to a workshop and it was indeed an electrical issue related to undervoltage, but the root cause was corroded wiring, which then damaged the relay. Got it fixed for 240€, all in. Thanks again!
